Pre-booked groups are eligible for a special discounted rate and can often be booked into a science theatre show at weekends and during school holidays. 
There is parking on the forecourt for coaches,
mini-buses and disabled groups transport.  Groups of 12 or more must book in advance on 029 2047 5475.

Events for Brownie, Cub and Beaver Groups

Techniquest offers a range of events for Brownies, Cubs and Beavers which provide the experience and resources to complete badges in just one evening. 

The cost is £5.50 per child, and supervisory adults come in free.

  • Birthday parties at Techniquest

    Children's birthday party at TechniquestLooking for an exciting and original venue for a birthday party?

    Techniquest is just the place!

    Everyone loves to spend time exploring the exhibition floor and the party crowd will also enjoy a show in the Science Theatre. The party package includes invitations, hot party food and goody bags in a private party area with balloons and decorations, a birthday card, and free entry to Techniquest for the birthday child for a whole year!

    All this for just £12 per child, with one adult free for every five party children (additional adults pay the reduced rate of £4.80 each). There is a minimum party size of 10, and parties are available at weekends only (subject to availability), during normal opening hours. There is no time restriction on the party visit – guests can enjoy their visit for as long as they like.  If the child having a party is a Friend of Techniquest, £12 will be deducted from the total bill.

  • Events for Brownies

    Brownie Evenings run from 6-8pm. 

    Brownie Stargazer badgeBrownie Stargazer Evenings

    Brownie Stargazer Evenings give Brownies the opportunity to complete the Stargazer/Astronomy badge. The evening involves a series of short sessions which cover: the stars and planets and the Earth’s relationship to them, and how astronomers study the night sky.

    Brownie Science Investigator badgeBrownie Science Evening

    Brownie Science Evenings include a range of activities undertaken in groups of about 25. During the evenings, Brownies will:

    • make bubble wands
    • make and race balloon rockets
    • make and use a bottle xylophone
    • investigate salt crystals using a camera microscope
    • explore a human circuit and static electricity.

    Brownie Sleepovers

    Brownie Sleepovers run from 6pm – 8.30am. The cost is £22.00 per child, and supervisory adults stay free.

    Brownie Sleepovers give Brownies the unique opportunity to stay the night in Techniquest, following an evening jam-packed with activities. There’s time to explore Techniquest before the programme swings into action. The evening’s highlights include Science Theatre and Planetarium shows, group craft activities and an exhibition trail, plus a “Camp Fire” sing-along session.

  • Events for Beavers

    Beaver Activity Evenings run from 5.30pm-7.30pm. Doors open at 5 pm. 

    Beavers Experiment badgeBeavers Experiment Badge

    The evening gives the opportunity to complete the Experiment Badge. The Beavers will:

    • take part in an experiment, investigate their findings and discuss the results with the colony
    • complete an exhibition trail: Beavers will have the opportunity to complete mini experiments at work stations throughout the exhibition, in addition to informal learning sessions throughout the exhibition. 
  • Events for Cubs

    Cub Evenings run from 6–8 pm.  Doors open at 5.30pm

    Cub Astronomer badgeCub Astronomer Badge

    Cubs take part in a whole range of activities about space, study the solar system, and learn about meteorites and eclipses. There is a session in the Planetarium, and a chance to look through a telescope at the night sky.

    Cub Scientist badgeCub Scientist Badge

    The evening gives the opportunity to complete the Cub Scientist Badge. The evening comprises two parts, the Physical World and the Living World. Each pack leader will also be given ideas for further work to follow up the visit.
