This year, mathcymru is offering fully-funded Maths outreach services from Techniquest to more schools across Wales than ever before. We want your school to benefit!
There are a wide range of opportunities to support your teaching of Maths, including shows, workshops and kits. These curriculum enrichment activities could be completely free to your school. They provide an excellent opportunity for students to consolidate learning, make use of Mathematical skills and knowledge, and experience Maths in a different way.
During this academic year, these outreach services will be offered, with full funding support from mathcymru, to 180 schools across Wales.
We would be delighted to hear from any school in Wales interested in accessing mathcymru’s support of these services, particularly schools in less-advantaged areas.

Shows
Invite Techniquest into to your school and transform your hall into a Science Theatre! With Maths shows designed for pupils in Foundation Phase and KS2, Techniquest’s presenters bring Maths classes to life with animated experiments! Shows encourage pupils to question ideas and to think independently.
Each show is designed to support the teaching of the National Curriculum for Wales. All props and materials are provided by Techniquest and post-visit resources are available on the Techniquest website, offering ideas for further classroom activities.

Maths on the Menu (Years 3 and 4)
Join the chef in the Techniquest pizzeria to discover how even a pizza can provide a maths opportunity. Fractions, number patterns and sequences, time and relations, counting, symmetry and pattern are all explored in this engaging show.

Maths Detective (Years 5 and 6)
A mysterious burglary leaves the Techniquest crime squad baffled... Can your pupils become junior Maths Detectives to help solve the mystery? During this entertaining presentation the pupils will use graphs, work quantitatively, use mathematical information, calculate, interpret and present findings in order to uncover the identity of the criminal.
Maths Kits
Bring a Techniquest exhibition to your classroom! Techniquest kits each consist of 11 table top activities that are perfect for recreating the Techniquest experience at your school. You can either hire a kit for 1-4 day(s) or book a day of presenter-led sessions. They are specially designed to encourage enquiry and can be used to introduce a new topic or to reinforce prior learning.
Each kit is accompanied by extensive resource materials and support notes for teachers. The resource materials are designed to guide the teacher through a host of learning initiatives.
