Prestigious Maths Lecturers
The opportunity of hosting a maths lecture free of charge, for your Advanced Level maths students, can be sourced through the mathcymru scheme.
Visiting lecturers, with a range of engaging and stimulating maths topics, will deliver quality lectures to your pupils. These lecturers are professionals from Universities such as Oxford, Leeds and Warwick with strong Mathematic Schools. The audience numbers have ranged from 30 pupils to 130 pupils. If you have a neighbouring school that may wish to be invited to the event also, this is a method by which schools may benefit together and widen participation.
Past topics have included:
- When Maths Meets Psychology – how maths can aid a more critical approach and rationality
- Lara Croft and the Scalar Triple product Maths – the use of maths in computer games and the internet
- Maths and Magic – from simple card tricks to secret codes and internet security
- Catch me if you can – activity maths using algebra and calculus, as applied to everyday games
