Competition: Photograph or Podcast it’s up to you!
A competition is being launched to illustrate this year’s Wales Maths Week theme of Round and Round. The prize is either a class trip to Techniquest, or a Techniquest experience at your school.
There were hundreds of excellent entries in the mathcymru photography competition on last October’s theme of Number and Shape (You can view a selection here). But this time the categories are wider. You don’t have to be a budding photographer to enter….you could make a podcast instead.
The theme for Wales Maths Week 2008 is Round and Round….so photographic entries might capture movement, or feature circles, or rings. A podcast might focus on vectors, or the maths involved in Olympic cycling…or rounding up numbers.
Schools can organise internal competitions and then enter the best ten in each age group for final judging. The mathcymru co-ordinator, Dave Breen, says “The competition can challenge pupils on all levels…they have the opportunity to apply their knowledge however it suits them”.
Entries must be uploaded below by Friday November 7.
RulesDigital pictures (no more than 750kb) to be uploaded here. Photos must be in .jpg form. Podcasts (audio only, no more than 2Mb) to be uploaded here. Podcasts must be in .mp3 form.
