Brownie Stargazer Evenings
Brownie Stargazer evenings give packs the opportunity to wrap up the Stargazer/Astronomy badge in just one evening. The evening involves a series of short sessions which cover the following: the stars and planets and the Earth’s relationship to them, and how astronomers study the night sky. The evenings run from 6 – 8 pm and the cost is £5.50 per Brownie, with supervisory adults free of charge.
Brownie Science evening
The Brownie Scientist evenings run from 6 – 8 pm (doors open from 5.30pm), and include a range of activities undertaken in groups of about 25. The cost per Brownie is £5.50 with supervising adults admitted free of charge During the evenings Brownies will:
- Perform a red cabbage indicator test.
- Make and use a carbon dioxide fire extinguisher.
- Make and use a bottle xylophone.
- Play a magnetism fishing game.
- Transport a small load.
- Explore electrical circuits.
Beaver Activity Evening
The evening will provide experiences and resource materials sufficient to complete all aspects of the Experiment Badge. The Beavers will:
- Take part in an experiment, investigate their findings and discuss the results with the colony.
- Complete an exhibition trail: Beavers will have the opportunity to complete mini experiments at work stations, in addition to informal learning sessions throughout the exhibition.
The evenings start at 5.30pm and finish at 7.30pm. Doors open at 5 pm. The cost per child is £5.50 and supervisory adults are admitted free of charge.
Cub Astronomer Badge
The evening will provide experiences and resource materials to complete the Astronomy badge. The cubs take part in a whole range of activities about space, study the solar system, and learn about meteorites and eclipses. There is a session in the Planetarium for seeing the night sky, and a chance to look through a telescope. The evening runs from 6 – 8 pm and packs are requested to arrive at Techniquest no earlier than 5.30 p.m. The cost per child is £5.50 and supervisory adults will be admitted free of charge.
Cub Scientist Badge
Help your Cubs achieve their Scientist Badge with a trip to Techniquest. The evening comprises two parts, the Physical World and the Living World. There are a series of short sessions which provide experiences and resource materials which cover all aspects of the Scientist Badge. Each pack leader will also be given ideas for further work to follow up the visit. The evening runs from 6 – 8 pm. Packs are requested to arrive at Techniquest no earlier than 5.30 p.m. The cost per child is £5.50 and supervisory adults will be admitted free of charge.
