STEMPOINT and STEM Ambassadors

If you want to find out more about opportunities in STEM in Wales read on.

We have information for teachers looking for ways to inspire pupils, for students considering their career options, and for anyone interested in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths, who wants to know more about its relevance in Wales today.

The image of Wales in history is of coal, iron, farming, fishing – all industries requiring a solid knowledge of STEM subjects. There is greater diversity in modern Wales…companies are still involved in producing energy, and food, but there are also firms specialising in different types of manufacture, research and services.

Techniquest has been working with schools and the public for more than twenty years, making STEM subjects accessible to all. It is now using this experience to provide a one-stop information point for STEM providers in Wales, as contract holder for STEMNET – the organisation which aims to draw more people into STEM related careers. As STEMPOINT contractor Techniquest – working with Techniquest Glyndwr – can help schools enrich and enhance their delivery of STEM subjects by putting teachers in touch with educational providers across the country. Techniquest also co-ordinates the STEM ambassador scheme in Wales which encourages charismatic people working in STEM industries, to pass on some inspiration to younger generations. The STEMPOINT manager in Wales is Tina Crimp.
