Community Discovery Area
The proposed “Community Discovery Area” will be a unique interactive public area situated within Cardiff Bay that will be made freely accessible to all. This exciting project will be the first of its kind in the UK, and will provide an exciting new feature to an area of Cardiff Bay currently lacking public amenities.
The Community Discovery Area will be developed by extending Techniquest’s existing first floor terrace area to create a large outdoor public facility with views across Cardiff Bay. The area will house a range of interactive outdoor exhibits and learning facilities, community art installations and relaxation areas.
The space will enable communities and individuals to engage with environmental issues through interactive exhibits and to learn more about the choices available to them. The facility will have full disability access and it will provide an outdoor public space that is fun and accessible to all.
A community classroom will be incorporated at ground floor level close to the outdoor space, which will provide much improved facilities to enable Techniquest, partners and other community organisations to run associated educational programmes. (Insert pictures)
