Group Visits : Cardiff Bay

Planning a Visit

All group visits of ten or more must be booked in advance, in order to qualify for group rates. All bookings may be made by telephone. Please ask for our booking secretaries on 029 20 475 476.

How to Pay

Payment of a non-returnable deposit is normally required in advance of a group visit.

Charges: £3.95 (£4.50 for non-school groups) per pupil. Supervisory adults accompanying school groups are admitted free of charge.

We encourage Junior School groups to bring one adult for every nine children, and infant parties often wish to have even more support.

On the Day

Please bring your group visit confirmation sheet. If travelling from outside Cardiff, please ask your driver to approach Techniquest via the A4232 (from Junction 33 on the M4).

Arrange for the coach to arrive at the covered area outside the main entrance to Techniquest. Inform us of your arrival while the children remain on the bus. You will then be given information on how your group will be briefed, and the timing for any talks will be confirmed.

During Your Visit

A member of helper staff will meet you to ensure that your visit is as enjoyable and problem-free as possible. We will make arrangements for your coats and bags.

At the end of your visit our helper staff will arrange for your group to collect their coats and bags.

Packed Lunches

Our inevitably limited facilities for eating packed lunches are offered to groups on a first come, first served basis. Facilities should be reserved when making the booking for the group visit.

Pre-Visits

Techniquest is pleased to offer free entry to teachers and other adults who are responsible for planning group visits. You may visit whenever Techniquest is normally open. We simply ask you to indentify yourself to the staff on duty and sign in. Please contact us in advance if there are particular matters that you wish to discuss.

Disabled Access

Techniquest is keen to offer help and support to visitors with special needs. There is easy wheelchair access, including a lift, to all parts of the building. Please discuss your particular needs with us when you book.

Science Shop

The Techniquest shop offers a range of scientific toys and souvenirs, and a wide selection of scientific books and educational resources.

If you wish your group to use the shop you will be given an allocated session to avoid the possibility of congestion. However you must ask about this at the time of booking.

We can also prepare 'goodie bags' for each pupil if you prefer. Again, ask about this option at the time of booking.
