Exhibit: Bermuda Bubbles

Press the button to release air bubbles into the tank. Watch how the oil platform sinks. Can you make it ‘hover’ in the water? The boat normally floats because it is less dense than water. The air bubbles mix with the water, lowering the density.  Now the boat is denser than the water beneath it and so it sinks.  The Bermuda Triangle is an area of the Atlantic between Bermuda, Florida and Costa Rica where ships have disappeared in mysterious circumstances. It has been suggested that a sudden eruption of carbon dioxide gas from the sea bed may be responsible.
