Education programmes
Supporting the National Literacy and Numeracy Framework and the emerging Digital Competence Framework and Welsh Government’s Qualified for Life — Focus on Science.
Techniquest provides a unique experience — supporting teachers and inspiring pupils from Foundation Phase to Post-16 in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics — at our Science Discovery Centre in Cardiff Bay and through a broad and dynamic Outreach programme, which can bring the Techniquest experience to your school.
120 hands-on exhibits
At Techniquest in Cardiff Bay, there are more than 120 hands-on exhibits, which are ideal for child-centred learning and investigation
Foundation Phase and Key Stage 2 pupils who visit Techniquest can also attend an interactive show in the Science Theatre, or visit Techniquest’s digital Planetarium, where they will be inspired by a view of the night sky. Key Stage 2 and secondary pupils can also take part in a series of workshops in the Laboratory, which allows pupils to gain hands-on practical experience.
All programmes are linked to the Curriculum for Wales. Teachers receive resource materials to help them extend the learning back in the classroom.
School visits are so well organised that teachers can simply focus on the learning experience; upon arrival, Techniquest staff explain the logistics of the visit to make sure the day runs smoothly
