Foundation Phase — at Techniquest

Foundation Phase/Key Stage 1 programmes are presented with the help of Delyth, a cheeky and inquisitive young dragon, who is on hand to help answer questions and inspire pupils in science and mathematics.

Each programme consists of a Science Theatre show, time on the exhibition floor amongst the many hands-on exhibits, plus post-visit materials, thereby offering teachers a complete package of activities to support their teaching.

Each lively presentation in the Science Theatre lasts approximately 25 minutes, after which pupils explore the exhibition floor. Here they are guided by their own curiosity, and engage with a variety of interactive exhibits that encourage them to experiment.

A visit to Techniquest in Cardiff Bay is FREE for School Members, or just £5.00 per pupil for non-members. Additional charges may apply to some programmes. Supervisory adults are admitted free of charge.

Shows

Included with admission charge

All of Techniquest’s Science Theatre shows encourage pupils to learn through investigation, discussion, and collaboration.

Delyth, Techniquest’s cheeky and inquisitive young dragon is on-hand to help pupils apply ideas and solutions to practical maths and science tasks and real life problems. Pupils must identify, collect and organise information in order to answer questions that have been posed by Delyth and Techniquest’s presenters.

During the shows, pupils are asked their opinions on what might be the outcome of certain experiments, before volunteers join Delyth on stage to participate in challenges and demonstrations. Afterwards, the whole group is asked to reflect on what has been achieved and suggest simple explanations.
