Explore the wonders of our oceans and learn about the damaging effects of plastic pollution.

This After Hours, as well as the two floors of hands-on exhibits and puzzles for you to get stuck in to, we have:

Lush

Lush Cardiff will be talking about their efforts to combat plastic waste, and the science of change with their bath bombs. Plus, make your own Big Blue Bath Bomb or Turtle Jelly Bomb for a small additional charge, and see their latest fantastic products.
Please note: The Lush pop-up shop and bath bomb activity will be cash only.

Eco Lounge & Ooho

Relax in Cardiff Harbour Authority’s Bay Eco Lounge, plus make a sea-friendly pledge and enjoy an innovative Ooho cocktail with edible packaging!

Keep Wales Tidy

Get involved in a nurdle hunt, a beach clean activity, and find out how you can become a litter champion with Keep Wales Tidy.

Sea4All

Cardiff University will be talking about Sea4All, the project to enhancing critical thinking in schools for marine pollution using innovative ICT technologies.

Ripple

Cardiff’s first not-for-profit zero waste store, Ripple, will have a pop-up shop showcasing the perfect items to get started with going waste-free.
Please note: The Ripple pop-up shop will be cash only.

Refill

Refill Cymru will be talking about their campaign which is trying to stop millions of plastic bottles at source and prevent plastic pollution by making reusing a bottle simpler than buying a new one. Find out how to become a Local Refill Champion and start Refilling your community.

And that’s not all…

Hit the waves and test your skills of balance on our surfboard, and see how long you can stay upright before the inevitable wipe-out!
Feeling thirsty or peckish? We’ve got you covered. There’ll be a fully-licensed bar and street food available on the night.

A glass of Prosecco upon arrival is included in your entry ticket. A non-alcoholic alternative is also available.

Ticket price includes all additional activities — there are no additional fees on the night (except for food and drink purchases, and the Lush bath bomb making activities.)

This event has sold out.

Additional activities have limited availability, and are delivered on a first-come, first-served basis.

FAQs

  •   What is Techniquest?

Techniquest is an educational charity, with a science centre in Cardiff Bay. Our mission is to embed science in Welsh culture through interactive engagement. We provide a range of services to schools and teachers to complement formal education provision in Wales and work extensively with public audiences.

  •   Where can I park?

We are pleased to be able to offer all of our visitors discounted parking with Q-Park, our preferred parking partner.

The Q-Park operates the Cardiff Bay car park in Pierhead Street which is around 8 minutes walk from Techniquest.

We have agreed a special discount rate for our customers of 15% off all pre-bookings.
Pre-book and guarantee your space here using the code TECHNI15.

There are also nearby pay-and-display car parks on Stuart Street and Havannah Street. Please do not park on Havannah Street itself.

We regret that there is no parking on-site at Techniquest.

  •   Who is it for?

Techniquest is suitable for all ages! We do have special events for certain groups, however — see Toddler Days and Home Educator days.

  • I have a different question.
