Frequently Asked Questions

General visits

  1. Will the retro exhibits still be there when I visit Techniquest?
Yes! Not only have we introduced over 50 brand new exhibits, but all of our favourite retro exhibits will remain for you to enjoy at your next visit.
  2. Will the Planetarium be open when I visit?
We are pleased to be able to offer Planetarium shows at a reduced capacity in December 2021. See the What’s On page for details.
  3. Is there a cloakroom?
We have lockers available as soon as you enter the exhibition — speak to one of our staff when you arrive to get a key. There is a £5 refundable desposit to use the lockers.
    1. Is there somewhere private that I can breastfeed?
    2. Do you have a Prayer Room?
    3. What if someone in my party needs to get away from the main exhibition floor for a few moments, to somewhere quiet?
We have a small, quiet space available for our visitors called “The Pod”. Guests who wish to use the room while they’re with us — whether for prayer, quiet contemplation, breastfeeding, or just to take a few moments away from the main exhibition floor — are very welcome to do so.
  4. What are your new exhibits like?
We have over 50 brand-new exhibits at Techniquest that span over five key themes: Biomedical Science, Chemistry, Space, Environment and World Issues.
  5. I’m still a bit unsure about visiting due to the global outbreak of COVID-19. What measures do you have in place?
We have implemented new safety measures for all our staff and visitors to follow when in Techniquest. A full list of what to expect will be given to you prior to arriving (via email) and signage throughout our centre will remind you of any restrictions or changes. A breakdown of these will be available here.
  6. Why have I got to pre-book my tickets?
In line with the current public health guidelines, pre-booking will be essential so we can guarantee a safe amount of visitors in at any one time.
  7. What will happen if I turn up without a pre-booked ticket?
You will be asked to return at a later date/time once you have pre-booked a ticket.
  8. Why are pre-booked tickets for an allocated time period?
This is to allow us to manage the flow of guests through the building, to manage the capacity and the customer experience effectively.
  9. I’m an Annual Pass holder, what are my rights?
All up-to-date information regarding our Annual Pass can be found over on our dedicated page.
  10. Can anyone use your new exhibits?
Yes! Techniquest is for everyone. Our newest exhibits are more touch-screen based and as such are more suited to adults and older children. We do still have many of our classic exhibits which are more tactile and suited to younger ages. If you are looking to visit with very young children, we would recommend our dedicated Toddler Days as they have more activities aimed at that age group.Due to the nature of some exhibits, they may have a health warning attached to them so please do check before using them.

We are pleased to be able to offer all of our visitors discounted parking with Q-Park, our preferred parking partner.

We have agreed a special discount rate for our customers of 15% off all pre-bookings.
Pre-book and guarantee your space here using the code TECHNI15.
