Techniquest

New for 2018 — Techniquest’s Summer Camps give children the opportunity to get hands-on with a range of activities, from rockets to robots and from plants to puzzles.

You can book any combination of dates for your budding scientists — for example, you could book Monday to Friday on one week, or you could book a Tuesday on one week and a Wednesday on another. It’s up to you!

  • Weekdays from 13 to 31 August 2018, 9am to 5pm
  • For children aged 7 to 11
  • £38.50 per child per day (standard price* — opt-out is £35), pre-book only

See below to find out what activities are happening each day.

Please note that lunch and refreshments are not provided, so children will need to bring packed lunches.

Daily programme

  Monday: Mission Mars

On the first day of Summer camp our recruits will experience all things space, they’ll learn all about rockets and how we’re exploring our solar system. Our recruits will also see what it takes to be an astronaut and how to survive once we leave the safety of Earth!

  Tuesday: Wonderful world

Our campers will learn more about the world around us. Looking closer at the unique wetlands surrounding Cardiff Bay, they’ll find out about plants and animals as well as food in the future and how our world is changing.

  Wednesday: Spill your guts

Our campers will take a trip inside the human body; we’ll take a closer look at our amazing insides from the fascinating to the downright disgusting! We’ll also learn about our bodies building blocks and get hands-on with some bioscience!

  Thursday: Runaway robots

Campers will use our LEGO® building kits to get creative and make a host of robots and machines. They’ll overcome our challenges by building and testing their creations as well as diving into the fundamentals of programming to bring their work to life.

  Friday: Science sleuths

There’s been a crime at Techniquest! We’ll need our campers to help solve the mystery with all their science know-how. It’ll be a day to test their grey matter and put some amazing science to the test. With puzzles, demonstrations and experiments we’ll get to the bottom of this dastardly deed.

* Techniquest is a registered charity and the standard price includes a voluntary donation of 10%. This enables us to claim Gift Aid on 100% of the Summer Camps charge. All money raised goes towards supporting Techniquest and its aim to make science accessible to everyone.
