Working in partnership with Glasgow Science Centre, Techniquest has launched Learning Lab Cymru, set to inspire and enthuse the next generation.
Helping children to find and develop a passion for STEM, and to discover the scientist within, the project has been made possible through a collaborative effort with many other organisations, including: CADW, Cardiff School of Medicine, AstroCymru and Space Forge, the Edina Trust and the Science and Technologies Facilities Forum.
The scheme takes a hybrid approach that involves online learning for the classroom and at home, set alongside an in-person visit to Techniquest. Here they have the opportunity to explore hands-on science through over 100 interactive exhibits plus the chance to watch a live science show tailored to the programme’s theme — or in the case of the Space programme, an option to experience a Star Tour in the Planetarium.
Consisting of three bespoke 6-week learning programmes for Primary Schools, the concept provides a platform for learners between ages 7 and 11 (Progression Steps 2 & 3) to explore hands-on activities, meet inspirational professionals and work together to share ideas. A combination of lesson plans, video content and interactions with experts enables teachers to find support in delivering a good quality STEM learning experience for their pupils.
