Techniquest

We’ve put in place a variety of health and safety measures to help protect both you and our team during your visit.

  • Arrival times are staggered to avoid long queues at the entrance, and we strongly advise you to book ahead as we limit capacity for each session to avoid overcrowding.
  • We’ve adapted our layout to allow for more spacing between exhibits.
  • Hand sanitisers are positioned at several points across the exhibition floors, and you can request a stylus at our front desk to use on the digital touchscreens.
  • At our Gift Shop, the preferred method of payment is using contactless, but we are able to accept regular card and cash payments too.
  • Additional cleaning measures are in place, both via our contract cleaners and by our on-site team, and all fluids used in public areas are touch-safe.
  • In line with Welsh Government guidelines, it is no longer mandatory to wear a face covering at Techniquest. However, you are welcome to wear a mask if you would feel more comfortable doing so.

Exhibits under repair

We always aim to have every exhibit up and running for your visit, and with over 100 on site there should always be plenty to choose from.

However, the nature of us being a hands-on, interactive science discovery centre means that parts of the structure, machinery or electronics can wear out over time: so there’s always the possibility that some of our exhibits may be under repair when you visit.

Usually these fixes can be done very swiftly, but sometimes they may take a little longer, for example, when we are waiting for new parts to arrive.

We always aim to keep the number under repair to an absolute minimum. We will also list any we know to be undergoing longer-term repair in the section below, so that you can check before you arrive.

Currently undergoing repair or awaiting parts

  • Design a Water Drop
  • Vein Viewer
  • Dŵr Cymru
  • Virtual Operating Table
  • Myo-Electric Arm

You can help

If you’re visiting us and notice that something doesn’t seem to be working properly, please flag it to a member of staff at the time so that we can start working on it as quickly as possible: often it’s a very simple ‘reset’ that’s needed, which we can do straight away.

Get the most out of your visit

We hope you love the new exhibits we’ve been able to add to our space as much as we do. If you’ve visited us before, you’ll notice that many of them are rather more high-tech than our previous pieces and some are geared towards slightly older children and adults.

With this in mind, we’d encourage you to read the instructions on the screens that you’ll find on the new exhibits to ensure you get the most out of them.

If in doubt, do check with one of our staff on the floor who can advise on the best way to use these new interactive displays and can also recommend which ones may be best suited to the ages in your group. Please use responsibly and as guided, to ensure that everyone can enjoy them to the full.

If you’re planning on bringing a baby, or very young children with you, then it might be helpful to check out our babies at Techniquest information first. You’ll also find helpful information relating to access, the general facilities we have on site, parking nearby, and much more on our access and facilities page.

And if you’ve not yet made your booking online, don’t forget that you can add on additional activities like a workshop in the KLA Lab, a Planetarium experience or seats for a Live Science Show, when you purchase your entry ticket.

If you’ve already booked but didn’t manage to include one of these extras at the time, all is not lost! Although we can’t guarantee a space when you arrive, as capacity is often very limited, don’t be afraid to ask one of our friendly staff at the front desk, in case there are a few places still available.

We hope you have a wonderful time with us!
