Techniquest

On Thursday 20 October the science centre is holding a FREE evening to launch its “Techniquest Recommends” gifts that say goodbye to the boring and humdrum.

The science centre has selected 10 quirky and educational presents with a science theme to make it easier to find an alternative to the run-of-the-mill Christmas presents on offer at high street retailers. The “Techniquest Recommends” gifts will be available to purchase from Techniquest’s gift shop from that evening until Christmas.

Techniquest will be open from 6pm to 8pm so visitors can also get hands-on with the 120 exhibits across the Centre’s two floors, after the presents are unveiled.

The evening is also a great opportunity to pick up some amazing stocking fillers as the gift shop has a wide range of fun stationery items, a fantastic selection of Roald Dahl storybooks, Welsh souvenirs, games and 3D puzzles.

Rob Keetch, Techniquest’s Retail Manager, said “If you like shopping and you love science, this is definitely the evening for you. It’s a great feeling when you unwrap a present and it turns out to be something quirky and unusual, and we’ve taken the legwork out of finding a gift for a friend or relative who prefers something out of the ordinary.

“If you can’t get to the launch evening but want to choose from the gifts, you don’t need to visit the exhibition, just pop into the shop.”

As part of the “Techniquest Recommends” launch, the science centre has arranged for one of each of the 10 presents to be donated by their manufacturers to Safer Wales, the Cardiff-based charity which operates several projects against different forms of abuse.

Barbara Natasegara, CEO Safer Wales, said “Safer Wales are delighted that Techniquest has chosen our charity for these special gifts. We work directly with children, who never have access to these special toys, and this will help make a very special Christmas.”

“Techniquest Recommends” evening is free and places must be booked in advance on 029 2047 5476.
