We’re excited to announce a partnership with STEM Untapped, which will see 1,000 pupils in Wales gain a greater understanding of how STEM opens doors to exciting and rewarding careers.

Over the past few years, STEM Untapped has collaborated with like-minded organisations to create opportunities for Welsh schools to connect with global STEM role models, sharing their journeys and inspiring the next generation. The mission is to make a real impact on the careers awareness of pupils by offering authentic insight into the everyday lives of diverse and relatable STEM professionals.

Pen Pals project

  • Summary
    STEM Untapped role models will become pen pals with 20+ primary schools across Wales. This is a rare opportunity for pupils to connect with accessible role models, learn about their diverse careers and share their own STEM and school experience. Primary school classes will engage in an interactive letter exchange each term, with Techniquest acting as the go-between.
  • Engagement
    The project has engaged over 800 pupils from schools around Wales since September 2025, with 28 STEM Professionals involved in sending and receiving letters.

Online career talks

  • Summary
    Each term, primary school pupils can engage in a live Q&A with role models from various STEM professions, provided by STEM Untapped. This project will connect with 150 pupils from 5 schools across Wales, with the role models sharing valuable real-world insights into their STEM journey and careers.
  • Engagement
    Engaged with over 150 pupils since September 2025 during regular career talks, with various STEM Professionals involved each term for the talks.

Science Week career talks

  • Summary
    Techniquest is hosting online career talks with STEM Untapped role models during Science Week, March 2026. Role models will be giving talks and engaging in a live Q&A with secondary pupils across Wales.
  • Engagement
    Aiming to engage over 300 pupils from schools across Wales, with nine STEM professionals involved in our Science Week event.
