We’re excited to announce that Techniquest is one of 15 partners running the Association for Science and Discovery Centre’s science engagement programme ‘Demystifying AI’.

This new strategic programme has been created to support young people, families, schools and communities to understand AI in everyday life, careers and skills development in AI, and to platform regional diversity through both in person and online engagements.

As part of the programme, we’ll be launching a hands-on busking area on the exhibition floor across February half-term, where visitors can familiarise themselves with some of the benefits and dangers of AI.

Techniquest Engagement Manager James Paine said: “Thanks to this partnership with ASDC, our visitors will be able to learn more about a tool that’s changing the way we think, work and communicate.

“AI has already made great advancements in many STEM fields like medicine and maths, but its pitfalls cannot be ignored either. The programme will outline AI’s many strengths, as well as its weaknesses to help people understand AI, and to use it responsibly.

“We’ll have stalls set up in Techniquest during February half-term, and some of our academic partners will work with us to show the real people behind AI, and showcase a range of potential careers in the industry.”

In addition to the in-centre activities, we’ve filmed a miniseries of skits that explore topics like sustainable use, why AI is such a people-pleaser, and more — these can be found across our social media channels, including our recently-revived TikTok account, every week leading up to half-term.
