On 29 April, we celebrated our centre becoming a registered Litter Picking Hub by organising a staff litter pick around the Bay.
Techniquest was registered as an official Hub in March by Keep Wales Tidy, a charity that works with organisations around Wales to protect the environment in local communities.
Six bags were filled on the litter pick, and our staff used the equipment provided by the charity, which is available for rent by the public at our front desk.
Kim Sellwood, one of our Presenter Coaches, said: “Litter picking has always been a part of my life. I started as a young child and carried it right through my school years, building a lasting habit of caring for the environment around me.

“That mindset has stayed with me into adulthood, and I still spend time each week litter picking in my spare time, focusing on my street and the surrounding area.
“In 2020, I became more involved by joining the Dinas Powys Wild About Nature community group, where I take part in regular litter picks alongside others who share the same passion.
“In 2024, I was proud to become a Keep Wales Tidy Litter Champion. For me, it’s about more than keeping places clean; it’s about protecting wildlife and tackling the impact of human-made waste.”

Before we went out into the community, we heard from Auditel’s Huw Williams, who helped us audit our carbon emissions in 2025 and has continued to support us in monitoring and reducing our footprint since then.
