Lab coats at the ready! Solve a grisly crime scene as After Hours returns

October 2, 2017

Just in time for Halloween, After Hours will embrace all things scary when it returns on Thursday 26 October.

Who said Halloween was just for kids? Exclusively for over-18s, we invite you to come along in your best costume and investigate the science behind a gruesome crime scene.

With the support of Admiral, we’ll be hosting an unforgettable night of CSI-style science activities and spooky tours. If you fancy yourself as a bit of a Sherlock, this is one for you.

Every crime has three main questions, who did it, why did they do it, and how? Dressed in lab coats, you’ll join Cardiff’s very own Crime Solvers for forensic science workshops. You’ll dust for prints and follow the clues in order to crack the case, or else the culprit walks free.

Cardiff University’s chemistry experts will also join us in continuing the forensic fun. With chemical forensic workshops, you’ll also enjoy the use of 3D glasses and projectors around the building.

If you’re up for a few frights, Orchard360 will also be on hand to deliver a horror themed virtual reality experience. So, if you’re brave enough, you can come face to face with the things that go bump in the night. Not a bad way to kill a Thursday evening, right?

Finally, you can test your newly acquired CSI knowledge at the quizzing station, and be spooked on an historical ghost walk around the building.

The evening, from 6:30pm, will also include a forensic-based photo set with costumes for all to try on to really get in the spirit, so get practising your selfies!

On the night, you’ll have access to the venue’s full bar and 130 interactive exhibits. If solving the crime works up your appetite, food will be available to purchase from The Grazing Shed’s food truck, which will be situated in front of the main entrance.

Tickets start from £8 plus a booking fee if bought in advance from here, or £10 on the door.*

*There will be no further costs for activities once inside the building, though spaces for the attractions are subject to availability.
