Our Summer Sensation explores all five senses through a smorgasbord of activities designed to surprise and delight. Experiences that cover sight, sound, smell, taste and touch are all on the menu, along with a pay bar and food station so you can really make a night of it.
Science Made Simple will be taking over the Science Theatre with their talks on taste perception. You’ll discover exactly how sight affects taste, what makes some foods spicy, and — if you’re up to the challenge — finish by feeling the heat with some hot chillies.
Step up to our Sense Station to discover how sound your sense of smell is, or let your hands do the work to decide what it is you’re feeling, using nothing but touch! Take a look at our optical illusions: is what you see reality, or is your mind playing tricks on you? And if you’re up for the challenge, see how you fare trying to catch a beach ball when your whole world has been turned upside down ↕️
On the exhibition floor, get ready to feel the force of the Hurricane, pilot an underwater ROV, create colour shadows, generate plasma trails, test out gravity vs. friction on the silver slide — and more!
