40 years of discovery at Techniquest has led us to one all-important question: which of our fiery exploding demos is the best?!
Our Battle of the Bands-inspired science tournament will see our most epic booms and fireballs go head-to-head. Will Hydrogen Balloon reign supreme? Will Sodium Metal make the crowd roar? There’s only one way to find out.

Aimed at children aged 5+ but everyone is welcome. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.

There are multiple loud bangs during this show. Ear defenders will be available to those who would like them, and plenty of warnings will be given before the bangs.

Accessibility
There is space for two wheelchairs (please select a wheelchair ticket when booking). Our Science Theatre is an enclosed area, but you can leave if you’d like to. Ear defenders are available on request. Sensory bags are available from the ticket desk (£20 refundable deposit, subject to availability).

Tickets
Our live science shows are free of charge and we operate a first-come, first-served queue on the day. Want to secure your seat? You can book our guaranteed access spaces for just £1 per person (subject to availability and capacity).
Please note that every show ticket must be booked in conjunction with a valid admissions ticket.

This is where we really bring science to life in front of your eyes.
Take a seat in our 90-person tiered auditorium, where our engaging presenter will show you some incredible experiments.
Depending on the show, they could involve ferocious fire, crazy chemicals, exciting explosions or ridiculous rocket launches!
Please note that we are able to accommodate 2 guests in wheelchairs per show.
