Explore the weird and wonderful world of bubbles and blasts, with one of Techniquest’s biggest bubble-blowers!
How exactly are bubbles made? What happens when we fill them with different gases? And can we blow them up?
Book a live science show with us, where our bubbly presenter will delve into all of these questions with you and more.
We’ll show you propane bubbles, methane bubbles and why bubbles are actually a sandwich. Although definitely not one you should eat.
From the small to the ginormous, you’ll be transfixed by bubbles that float, ones that glow in the dark and others that will make sure the show ends with a bang!

Aimed at children aged 5+ but everyone is welcome. Under-16s must be accompanied by an adult.
There is a loud bang at the end of this show. Ear defenders will be given out before the show starts, and plenty of warnings will be given before the bang.
There is space for two wheelchairs (please select a wheelchair ticket when booking). Our Science Theatre is an enclosed area, but you can leave if you’d like to. Ear defenders are available on request. Sensory bags are available from the ticket desk (£20 refundable deposit, subject to availability).
Our live science shows are free of charge and we operate a first-come, first-served queue on the day. Want to secure your seat? You can book our guaranteed access spaces for just £1 per person (subject to availability and capacity).
Please note that every show ticket must be booked in conjunction with a valid admissions ticket.
